Let’s Talk About Love

The date is January 22nd, and we are getting close to Valentine’s Day, so I wanted to talk about Love today.  And I’ll tell you, I am madly in love with my wife.

According to Google the word Love is mentioned 442 times in the KJV Bible.  There are verses like:

Luke 10:25 ”And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.” (Bible Gateway KJV 2023)

Or John 13:34 “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (Bible Gateway KJV 2023)

Those are just a few verses about love and how to love but the scriptures I really want to focus on starting on Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.  (Bible Gateway KJV 2023)

Our minds can’t fathom what unconditional love is, and we won’t experience unconditional love until we are in the presence of Jesus and it’s going to be like nothing, we have every experienced in our earthly lives.  It’s going to be overwhelming. And I am sure I can’t even describe what it will be like.

Jesus loves us so much he lived a perfect and sinless life, died on the cross, and was resurrected for you and me and in the process defeated death so you and me can have everlasting life.  Men, that’s how much we are supposed to love our wives, enough to lay our lives down for them.

My hope and prayer is that our wives would marry us all over again.  I know I am not perfect, and I may be hard to love sometimes, by my hope and prayer is that Manuela would marry me all over again.

Revelation 19:7 “Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.  (Bible Gateway KJV 2023)
